Vinayaka Mission’s College of Nursing, Karaikal, was established in the year 2004 and is a constituent college of Vinayaka Missions University, Salem. It is situated in Keezhakasakudimedu, Karaikal. The bed strength of the parent hospital is 750.

The institute was accorded UGC permission on 10th November, 2004 to start B.Sc (Nursing). The UGC committee visited the institute again on 30th November, 2009 for reviewing the status. It was recognized by the INC on 22nd September with an intake of 60 students. The institute was also granted permission to start M.Sc (Nursing) on 15th September, 2009 with an intake of 20 students and P.B.BSc (Nursing) on 3rd October, 2009 with an intake of 35 students from the INC. The institution also has the recognition of the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council.

The college has a built up area of 48350 sq. ft. All the departments are equipped with excellent infrastructure to conduct the academic activities in the fittest manner. The infrastructure of the laboratories and the library are continuously augmented in order to keep pace with the latest developments in technology. Laboratories such as those for the fundamentals of nursing, maternity and child health nursing, community health nursing and nutrition and the computer lab are fully equipped with all the instruments and articles necessary for the practice. The library is well-furnished with 3900 books and 20 Journals. There is a departmental library with adequate books for easy reference.

The management encourages the faculty members to pursue research work by providing the adequate infrastructure and sponsoring them to attend conferences, workshops and symposia. The students are encouraged to do a research project in the Final Year.

The institution has very good hostel facilities for both the teaching faculty and students. The hostel is provided with indoor games facilities and round-the-clock ambulance facilities. Transport facilities are available for the faculty and students to commute to the college. The college is well-connected with all parts of the city with its own means of transport.
